Straw Dogs

We skipped a beat
We don’t want to be
Holed up in a golden picture frame
The lovers' dream
Doomed to a cemetery
Locked inside our selfish pride we lie

Just like the last time
We learned a fast rhyme
Like when the straw dogs come
They will bite someone
So take flight my son
Run away

We don’t like this open space
Where are our rules to break?

Just like the first time
We learned a cursed rhyme
When the straw dogs feed
They will make you bleed
So my son take heed
Run away

5 interesting facts about Straw Dogs:

1. It doesn't refer to the film (of the same name) so much as the director's inspiration behind that film - "Heaven and earth are ruthless, and treat the myriad creatures as straw dogs; the sage is ruthless, and treats the people as straw dogs."
2. It is lyrically based around this idea that life can be completely ruthless
3. It borrows lyrics from Alex's own song "Open Space" for the verses
4. It therefore has verse and chorus lyrics that have absolutely nothing to do with each other
5. It was musically influenced by Jeff Buckley
